Course Overview

  • Course Duration: 2 Days (Approximately 7.5 hours per day)

  • Technical Concepts: Calculating free fall distance, clearance margins, swing fall dynamics, fall restraint vs. fall arrest, and rescue planning.
  • Equipment & Anchorages: Anchor systems, inspection criteria for fall protection equipment, and proper maintenance.
  • Hands-on Skills & Instruction: Donning/doffing full-body harnesses, SRL's, setting up rope grabs, and leading practical demonstrations.

Day-by-Day Schedule & Instructional 

Day 1: Fundamentals, Equipment & Initial Practical Skills

  • Instructional Methods: Student workbooks, direct instruction, handouts on safe work procedures, and guided practical applications.
  • Key Focus Areas:
    • WorkSafeBC Regulations & OHSR compliance.
    • Fall protection plan development and safe work procedures.
    • Technical calculations (free fall distance, clearance requirements).
    • Equipment inspection standards (harnesses, SRL's, lanyards, rope grabs, anchors).
  • Hands-on Practical Session:
    • Proper fitting, donning, and doffing of full-body harnesses.
    • Installation and testing of rope grabs.
    • Practice with fall restraint systems and anchor selection.

Day 2: Advanced Concepts, Safe Work Practices & Instructor Assessment

  • Instructional Methods: Multimedia presentations (PowerPoint with video clips), workbook reinforcement, advanced practical exercises, and formal evaluations.
  • Key Focus Areas:
    • Working at heights: safe work practices for guardrails, ladders, control zones, and open holes.
    • Understanding swing falls, fall arrest dynamics, and emergency rescue strategies.
    • Instructional delivery techniques (how to teach and evaluate these skills).
  • Hands-on Practical Session & Assessment:
    • Continued practical exercise with harness application, rope grab installation, and anchor setups.
    • Train-the-Trainer Demonstration: Candidates demonstrate their practical teaching skills by guiding peers through equipment setups and inspections.

Evaluation & Certification Standard

  1. Formative Assessment: Knowledge check review questions embedded throughout both days to reinforce key concepts.
  2. Practical Evaluation: Pass/Fail assessment on equipment inspection, harness fitting, rope grab installation, and instructional demonstration ability.
  3. Written Final Exam: Administered at the conclusion of Day 2. A score of 80% or higher is required to obtain the Instructor Certification.

Aerial Lift (Boom Lift & Scissors Lift) Instructor Certification

Aerial Lift Instructor (Train-the-Trainer) Course—also commonly referred to as a Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) Trainer Course—is designed to certify safety managers, supervisors, and experienced operators to train, evaluate, and certify aerial lift operators within their own organization.

This OSHA-aligned Instructor Training course covers OSHA's classroom training requirements. The training includes sections on equipment and anatomy, maintenance and inspections, safe operations and stability, common hazards, and more. Intermittent practice quizzes throughout the course prepare you for the final written exam. Upon successful completion of the course and exam, you will receive immediate  access to your Instructor Certificate of completion.

Confined Space Instructor Certification

Canadian Fall Protection Instructor confined Space Train-the-Trainer course is designed to prepare your instructor to train your employees.

The 1-day course is comprised of the following:

• 1 day of hands-on instruction by an qualified instructor.

• The class provides the necessary skills to develop, deliver and evaluate students on basic confined space knowledge and technical understanding.

The 1-day course is comprised of the following:

• Regulatory discussion and implications, including a discussion of OSHA 1910 General Industry and 1926 Construction regulations as well as ANSI standards on the topic.

• Assessment and identification of confined spaces and their hazards based on governmental analysis criteria

• Discussion of confined space entry program development based on the needs of the specific site, including recommended safety measures to follow for routine entries as well as equipment needed and basic technical knowledge needed to teach it.

• Guidance on performing practice exercises related to confined space entry at the site, including regular entry exercises as well as non-entry rescue practice utilizing common entry / rescue equipment.

• Review, assessment and guidance of student instructors for proficiency in teaching of confined space entry

• instructor will be able to certify your employees in Confine Space and their certifications will be valid for 3 years from the date of issuance.
• Instructor will be provided with all training materials required to facilitate in house training including a PowerPoint video presentation, instructor manual.

Participant Cancellations

  • Standard Cancellations: Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled course start date to be eligible for a full refund.
  • Late Cancellations & No-Shows: Participants who cancel with less than 48 hours' notice or fail to attend their scheduled session are ineligible for a refund.
